Avra on the Beach Cocktail and Fish Taverna
Once upon a time in the 70s a traditional Greek tavern, AVRA, started building its history in the picturesque village of Benitses, a place where kings, queens and celebrities of the time including John Lennon used to choose for their holidays. This beautiful seaside taverna was initiated by the Spinoulas family, also owners of the oldest hotel in Corfu, called AVRA as well.
Thousands of visitors from all over the world visiting Corfu were travelling miles to visit the taverna and queue in order to get seated on a table and enjoy delicious traditional dishes. Nevertheless times changed, years passed, the owners grew old and the taverna closed for many years. These were only the bad news…because the good news are that the old AVRA is being RELOADED!
The old AVRA is being re-branded, renovated and refreshed and it is opening its doors once again!

We start our day early by preparing homemade breakfast with tasty traditional Greek coffee for you all! Special Greek omelette with vegetables and feta cheese, Greek yoghurt with super-food ingredients and honey, pancakes with chocolate and jams, sandwiches and Bougatsa croissants with fresh cream and mama’s marmalade will blow you away!
Today we offer our guest traditional Greek and Corfiot specialties – fresh fish and seafood, delicious home-made desserts, souvlaki, Corfiot pastitsada. We also have special menu for kids and vegeterians.
All our dishes are inspired by old recipes mixed with a modern taste. Our homemade cuisine and handmade dishes will awake all your senses and will surely motivate you to return. Some of our most popular dishes are our handmade spreads including eggplant salad, feta cheese spread, taramosalata etc, fried courgettes, prawn pasta, traditional Greek pies, fried sprat, mama’s beef balls and many more which you will find out as soon as you visit! For the ones who wish to relax by the sea on our sunbeds a range of snacks including fruit salad, club sandwich and vegetarian snacks are available.
